The Wremy House is located in Starkville, Mississippi — roughly 30 minutes' drive from West Point. For travelers who need more than a couple of rooms, Starkville is usually the practical base.
West Point is a small town with a short list of lodging options, and it is a place people visit for specific reasons: a wedding, a family reunion, a hunting or shooting trip at Prairie Wildlife or Mossy Oak, a job at the Yokohama plant, or the Prairie Arts Festival on Labor Day weekend. When a group of eight to fourteen needs beds on the same night, those options run out quickly.
Starkville sits about 30 minutes southwest by way of Highway 82 and Highway 45 Alternate — close enough to drive over for a rehearsal dinner and back the same evening, and large enough to have restaurants open late, groceries, and a college town's worth of things to do between events.
The drive from Starkville to West Point
Plan on 30 minutes door to door in normal traffic. The route is straightforward highway driving, and there is no shortage of parking at either end. Guests attending an evening event in West Point typically leave Starkville about 45 minutes before it starts.
When Starkville is the better base
Choose Starkville if your group is larger than a hotel room or two, if you want a kitchen and a yard rather than a lobby, if part of the trip involves Mississippi State University, or if you want somewhere to eat after 9 p.m. Choose West Point itself if your event runs late into the night and nobody wants to drive.
About The Wremy House
The Wremy is a fully renovated house with two sides joined by an interior door: the Main House sleeps 8 across two king-size bedrooms and an upstairs bonus room with two queen-size beds, and the Cottage sleeps 6 with a king bedroom, a queen bedroom and a queen pull-out sofa. Booked together, the full property sleeps 14 across roughly 3,200 square feet, with three full bathrooms, two kitchens, a shared deck and a gas-assisted charcoal grill.
It is five blocks north of Main Street in downtown Starkville and less than two miles from Mississippi State — which makes it easy to combine a West Point event with a Bulldogs game, campus visit or a weekend downtown.
